About Austin Energy Green Building
Programs for Home and Business
Austin Energy Green Building has
programs designed to meet the needs of all types of property
owners. Whether you are building a home, an office building,
or a mixed-use project, we can help you build
with value, health, and the environment in mind.
More
Participation
Building professionals participate in our programs by rating projects within the Austin Energy service area. Our service rates the sustainability and the resource and energy efficiency of new and remodeled buildings. After rating a project, participants are listed in our online Professionals Directory. Other benefits include help with marketing, online case study features, a bimonthly newsletter, and training seminars on issues affecting the building industry. More

Education and Resources
Austin Energy Green Building offers educational services through seminars in sustainable building practices and building systems. We assist both construction professionals
and consumers with making good choices when evaluating green
building materials and systems. Our one-day Green by Design consumer workshop
rarely has an empty seat. Green building
Factsheets and publications such as the Sustainable
Building Sourcebook are just some of the many resources we offer. More
Municipal
Projects
The City of Austin began implementing green building technologies
in its municipal facilities in 1993. In 2000, the
City Council passed a resolution requiring all municipal buildings
to meet the United
States Green Building LEED™ silver rating. The resolution
most often impacts the City's Public Works Project
Management Division, because it performs project management
functions for almost all municipal buildings.

Architectural Management Project Manager, for individual project
guidelines.
