Call for Presenters: Renewable Energy Roundup and 2010 ACI National Home Performance Conference

Show Your Stuff at Renewable Energy Roundup
The 10th Annual Renewable Energy Roundup will be September 25-27, 2009 in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas. This popular, family-friendly event expects to draw nearly 9,000 visitors this year. The Roundup offers opportunities for speakers, exhibitors, hands-on activities and entertainment. The Roundup also needs volunteers!

The Roundup focuses on four main areas: renewable energy, organic/sustainable growing, green building and sustainable living, and alternative transportation. Commercial, government, and non-profit companies are invited to exhibit but might also consider applying to do a presentation. Mary McLeod, AEGB's Single Family Program Coordinator, says Roundup is her favorite speaking venue. "The audience is always excited and motivated, and they ask good questions."

The 2009 keynote speakers are Toby Hemenway, author of Gaia's Garden; Karl Rabago, Vice President of Distributed Energy Services at Austin Energy; and Bob Dixson, the Mayor of Greensburg, Kansas. The deadline for speaker applications is July 30; for booths, it's August 7.

Share Your Hot-and-Humid Building Science Knowledge
The premier residential building science conference in the country is coming to Austin in 2010!  The 2010 ACI National Home Performance Conference will be April 19-23, 2010.

The ACI conference focuses on residential building science, including multifamily. It started in Pennsylvania in 1986 and has long been mainly a northern conference. It was held in Austin in 2006—first time in a southern climate. Besides teaching the basics of building science, ACI deals with sustainability, water issues, IEQ, affordable housing, codes, home performance testing, client education, and more.

ACI needs presenters familiar with the challenges of the hot/humid climate. You’ve spent years honing your skills as a green building professional: Now is the time to share your expertise! ACI has the goal of 40% new presenters every year. The deadline to submit proposals is August 28, 2009.
