Small Business Lighting Program

Austin Energy offers small business customers discounts for upgrading interior lighting systems with high efficiency equipment. Contracting with Energy Saving Strategies allows Austin Energy to "buy down" material and labor costs and pass the savings onto you. This usually saves a small business more money than a lighting rebate.

Discounts depend on the type of lighting retrofit, but most projects average over 70%.

Program Eligibility
Small business customers in the following rate classes are eligible:

Benefits of Upgrading Interior Lighting Systems
Inefficient lighting systems require added A/C loads to remove heat. This could be adding up to 40 percent more electricity use and cost to your commercial building.

Besides reducing cost, switching to high efficiency lighting can:

"" Increase appeal of your business interior or products.
"" Improve lighting levels and/or reduce glare.
"" Improve productivity by reducing eyestrain and fatigue.
  Reduce maintenance costs.
  Eliminate flickering or humming fixtures.
