Extended Area Rater Pilot Project

Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) now works with building professionals to rate single-family homes in 25 Central Texas counties. (The extended area includes counties in Climate Zones 2.2 and 3.1 east of the Moist/Dry Line and west of the Brazos River. It does not include Bexar County, Build Green San Antonio’s home area.)

AEGB increased its regional reach to:

• Respond to interest from builders operating outside our service area
• Maintain the integrity of the term “green building” in Central Texas
• Leverage broad similarities in terrain and climate
• Benefit from common interests, issues, and goals

Responsibilities and qualifications of Extended Area Raters
AEGB trained and certified Extended Area Raters to service and administer this pilot project. They offer builder support, inspections, and compliance reviews of program credits. They also submit documentation to AEGB for review and certification.
