How To Report A Power Outage
Austin Energy works hard to prevent power outages, but if one does occur, our goal is to restore power as quickly as possible.
As an Austin Energy customer, you may visit the Austin Energy Storm Center to report and track power outages. Every report we receive helps determine the extent and location of the problem. Please note that restoration times are estimations. Also, an indication that power is restored to an area does not guarantee your house or business has power. However, you can log into a section of Storm Center to check your specific address.
Reporting and checking on power outages
To report on or check the extent of an outage in your area, visit the Austin Energy Storm Center and select either Check Outage or Report Outage from the upper right of the page. Be prepared to enter one of these:
Six-digit PowerLink number, from the top right of the location’s City of Austin Utility bill |
Location phone number |
Location address and last or business name |
We will also prompt you to enter characters from a CAPTCHA image, which helps prevent spam and protect the system.
You can also call (512) 322-9100 to report and check on power outages, and to report:
Downed electrical wires |
Arcing electric equipment |

When you call, our automated outage reporting system will ask for one of these:
