Partner
Managing peak demand helps delay the
need to build expensive power plants. This helps keep
electric rates lower.
As a Power Partner, you'll receive
a free programmable thermostat plus free installation and
warranty. This package is a $200 to $280 value. In return, you agree to allow us to "cycle
off" your air conditioner for up to ten minutes during peak period—when
demand for electricity is highest.
Special: $25 bonus for single-family customers
In return for an extra five minutes cycle-off time, Austin Energy will credit your utility bill with a one-time $25 bonus. This option is great for homes with multiple central air conditioners and/or customers not home during the day.

Cycling
Off Keeps Demand Level
Austin Energy cycles off power only a few days each summer, when
both demand for electricity and our load are highest.
"Cycling off" is not noticeable. It helps stagger air conditioners so they take turns cycling
on. This keeps demand for electricity level.
