Austin Energy’s GreenChoice® program is the nation's most successful utility-sponsored and voluntary green-pricing energy program. It has been for nine years in a row!
GreenChoice customers support electric generation from clean, renewable sources. Current subscriptions number 754 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), and are increasing.

GreenChoice Batch 6 Now Available
Customers sign up for GreenChoice by subscribing to a specific “batch.” GreenChoice Batch 6 is now available to all Austin Energy customers.
A subscription to GreenChoice means that the current fuel charge (currently at 3.105 cents per kWh) is replaced with the GreenChoice Batch 6 fuel charge of 5.7 cents per kWh. A residential customer using an average of 1,000 kWh per month will pay about $25.00 per month more by subscribing to GreenChoice.
The Batch 6 fuel charge is fixed through December 31, 2014. A fixed fuel charge helps customers budget for future energy costs.

Green Power Partnership
Some commercial GreenChoice subscribers qualify for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Partnership Program.
The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program. It encourages organizations to buy green power to reduce the environmental impacts associated with purchased electricity use.
Green Power Partners must meet EPA standards of supplying a percentage of their total energy use with green energy. Austin Energy’s GreenChoice Program has 39 Gree Power Partners; including 18 at 100% of their energy purchases.
Green Power Partners benefit from the use of green power and support the development of new, renewable energy in the United States.
