Austin's Best-Kept Small Business Secret
Would
you like free access the McGraw-Hill
building project database, or E-Pipeline?
Need to use an engineering plotter to print blueprints? Want
to get help creating your business plan or take some inexpensive
classes in book-keeping?
You can do all that and
more in the service center created by Vicky Valdez of the
City
of Austin's Small Business Development Program. The center
is located in One Texas Center on the corner of Barton Springs
Rd and S. 1st, in the same building as the well known "One
Stop Shop". As you step into the cool, quiet room labeled
"Business Solutions Center", Yolanda Strey or Steven
Gonzales will be right there to explain how the center can
best help you. Better yet, show up for an orientation session
- they are held at the Center every Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
If you're unfamiliar
with electronic project RFP databases, center staff will show
you how to use the easy-to-navigate system that lists hundreds
of local building projects. A quick key word search turned
up 23 projects seeking LEED ratings.
So far this year, over
$5 million in projects have been awarded to small business
owners using the Center's services.
