The target audience for this series includes trade contractor groups, home builders and remodeling contractors that are not currently engaged in green practices. The goal is to provide a basic introduction to green building, sustainable building practices, and an overview of products and services that are available in the Central Texas market.
There are 4 or 5 sessions within each 4-hour classroom training and each session will be presented by industry experts, such as green building consultants, manufacturers or distributor reps, experienced builders, or trade contractors. Presentations are informal and encourage interaction, questions, and discussion from the audience. Content includes discussion regarding liability and warranty concerns with adopting green practices or using green products, recommended education to homeowners with regard to green operations, maintenance, and usage, as well as strategies for marketing green practices.
All classroom sessions will be held at the HBA Greater Austin facility at 8140 Exchange Drive in Austin, Texas 78754 [map]. Field trip dates, times, and locations will be announced each month.
Certificates
Trade contractors will receive a certificate for each 4-hour session attended, with some of the trade groups content split into two 4-hour modules. Home builders and remodeling contractors will receive a “Green Builder” certification if they attend the entire series of all 12 modules. Additionally, an optional “Green Reboot” certificate will be available for those who complete the entire series plus attend the six field trips to specific to remodeling projects. All certificates will be issued jointly by HBA Greater Austin, AEGB, and Austin NARI. CEU credits may be available, as authorized by trade associations (this should be verified by attendees when registering).
Sponsorships
A limited number of tabletop sponsorships are available for green vendors and service providers. The sponsorships should be related to the topics presented in each module and provide a wider range of options than time allows for presentations. Interested parties should email Miki Cook or call 482-5358.
