Rates

The Austin City Council unanimously approved a system average 7% rate increase for Austin Energy reflected on electric bills starting in October 2012. 

The approval provides Austin Energy an additional $71 million annually with a plan to further assess rate adjustment needs in 2014.

Austin Energy originally requested a $127 million increase in revenues annually, about a 12.5% system-wide increase. This increase in base electric rates and update to the rate structure is the first since 1994.
