Meter Reading Necessary This Weekend In Austin

Icy roads and conditions reduced the amount of meter reading that could be achieved Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

As a result, about 25,000 Austin Energy and Austin Water meters must be read this weekend to keep meter reading on schedule. Normally meters are read on weekdays only. This means residential customers in Austin and in areas outside Austin (served by Austin Energy) may see meter readers in their neighborhoods this Saturday and possibly Sunday.

Austin Energy and Austin Water residential meters are read by a contractor (Corix Utilities). Austin Energy provides coordination between the City and Corix.

Corix meter readers wear light blue shirts and/or dark blue jackets with "Meter Reader" on the back, with an Austin Energy logo on the front left pocket. All meter readers also carry an Austin Energy identification badge.

Residential meter reading this Saturday and then Sunday, if necessary, will begin about 7:30 a.m. and conclude by 4:30 p.m.
