Austin and Austin Energy Host World Energy Conference on Energy Efficiency and Green Power Technology

Underscoring its goal to become the "Clean Energy Capital of the World," Austin and Austin Energy will host the World Energy Engineering Congress September 22-24 at the Austin Convention Center. The event attracts top Fortune 500 companies and professionals from throughout the world:

  • Conference attendance is expected to top 3,000.
  • Attendees will include representatives from Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Hungry, Indonesia, Kuwait, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and the United Kingdom as well as top U.S. companies.
  • Conference includes 150 individual sessions on energy-efficiency, power quality, on-site generation and green power technologies.
  • Over 150 companies will exhibit latest technology in energy efficient lighting, energy efficient heating and air conditioning, onsite generation, technology to stabilize fluctuations in incoming power that can disrupt manufacturing, the latest on-site generation and advances in the generation of renewable energy.
  • Exhibit hall open beginning at 11:00 am September 22.

Recognizing the importance of Texas and Austin as world energy leaders, Gov. Rick Perry and Mayor Will Wynn have declared the week of September 20th "World Energy Week" in Texas and Austin.

Convention attendees will tour Austin Energy's fuel cell, the first fuel cell connected to the electric grid in Texas, Austin Energy's combined cooling and heating plant - the largest demonstration of off-the-shelf technology of its type in the country - and Austin Energy's solar installation atop the Palmer Events Center.

The world conference highlights a week of energy-related events in the Austin area including the Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair Sept. 24-26 in Fredericksburg and Combined Heat and Power Road Mapping Workshop Sept. 20-21 at the Austin Airport Marriott.
