Austin Energy Green Building Program
to offer Green Building Workshop for public
Austinites who are getting ready to
build, buy or remodel can learn how to get the most for their
money in a one-day workshop presented by the Austin Energy
Green Building Program.
The workshop, "Green by Design",
will cover topics such as making your new or existing home
energy efficient; choosing durable, low-maintenance materials;
installing a water wise landscape, choosing the right design
for your lot; making the indoor environment healthier; and
how to choose building professionals.
The workshop will be held Sat., March 23,
2002 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower
Center, 4801 La Crosse Ave.
For only $30 participants will receive a
full day of instruction, a box lunch, and the interactive
CD-ROM and workbook Green By Design. Staff members of Austin
Energy's Green Building Program, all with many years of experience
in homebuilding and remodeling, will lead the workshop.

The Austin Energy Green Building Program
is a community resource that promotes energy efficient and
environmentally sound building through consumer education
and technical training of residential and commercial building
professionals. The program also serves as a resource for citizens
who wish to build, buy or remodel their home to be more energy
efficient and environmentally sound, as well as citizens who
just want to make their home a more comfortable place to live.
Austin Energy's Green Building program is
the largest in the nation with 54 architectural firms, 68
builders, and 106 building product/service suppliers among
its core membership. A number of Austin's large production
builders are building all their homes to Green Building standards,
including Clark Wilson, Newmark, Ryland, Legacy and Hammonds
Homes.
