Variances for All Property Types
The Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance allows the following variances for single-family, multifamily, and commercial properties:
- The owner files a permit to demolish a facility no later than six months after the time of sale.
- The owner files a permit to substantially remodel a facility no later than six months after the time of sale. The owner and purchaser must enter into a binding agreement, approved by Austin Energy, according to which the purchaser agrees to complete an energy audit within a specified period after the remodel.
Owners seek a variance by filing an application with Austin Energy. The applicant may be required to provide information necessary to evaluate the request. |
