Electric Utility Design Criteria

Austin Energy Design Criteria is a set of guidelines, definitions, and descriptions for the design and installation of electric facilities that will be served by Austin Energy. This includes any residential or commercial building project.

Specific design requirements and final approval of any installation must be coordinated directly with AE’s Offices of Distribution Engineering Design:

AE Design South - St. Elmo Service Center
4411-B Meinardus Drive
(South of 969/MLK/Windsor Rd.)
(512) 505-7500

AE Design North - Kramer Lane Service Center
2412 Kramer Lane, Bldg. C
(North of 969/MLK/Windsor Rd.)
(512) 505-7206

AE Network Design - Downtown
4411-B Meinardus Drive
(512) 505-7675

Printed copies of the AE Design Criteria Manual are available through the AE's Offices of Engineering Design. The cost is $15.00.

Accuracy of Manual
We make every effort to be accurate in displaying the Electric Utility Design Criteria Manual online. In case of conflict, the official manual on file with the Austin City Clerk's office takes precedence.
