Individual Achievers - Battling Climate Change, 2005 |

Roger Duncan, Austin Energy's Deputy General Manager,
is named as a top individual achiever for efforts to cut
gases that cause global warming. Duncan's award highlights
Austin Energy's GreenChoice® Renewable Energy Program, which now boasts more than
7,500 homeowners and 350 businesses as customers using
clean energy.

| Wind Power Pioneer Award, 2005 |

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) presented Austin
Energy with the 2005 Wind Power Pioneer Award. AE was
named for leadership, demonstrated success, and innovation
in our wind power program. We were among 11 public power
utilities nominated this year.

Improvement Award, 2005 |

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency presented Austin
Energy with a 2005 ENERGY STAR® award for outstanding
contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by
promoting home energy-efficiency improvements for existing
homes. The award recognizes our Home
Performance with ENERGY STAR® Rebate Program for
its superior technical accomplishments, public education
and promotional efforts. |
| Public Technologist of the Year |

Roger Duncan, Austin Energy's Deputy General Manager
for Distributed Energy Services, was named "2004
Public Technologist of the Year" by the Public Technology
Institute, a non-profit organization based in Washington,
D.C. The award recognized Mr. Duncan's work over the past
decade for local governments in areas of public technology.
He was cited for saving local governments millions of
dollars through technology advancements in energy and
environmental areas. |

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) presents Austin Energy with a Green Power Leadership Award for significantly advancing the development of the green power market. |
| Most Valuable Pollution Prevention Award: 2004 |

The National Pollution Prevention Round Table (NPPR) recognizes AE's LED Traffic Signal Conversion Project. The City of Austin and the State Energy Conservation Office, with the help of Austin Energy, converted 5,200 traffic signals and 3,600 pedestrian crossing signals from incandescent bulbs to an efficient Light Emitting Diode technology. The project is expected to achieve a 90% reduction in both electric and peak demand energy consumption and result in an electric savings of 8,500,000 kWh per year and $1.2 million per year in electrical costs. |

The U.S. Department of Energy highlights Austin Energy's efforts to reduce the generation of green house gases such as CO2. We take credit for CO2 reductions from our renewable energy, conservation, nuclear generation, and transmission improvements. |
| EPA SF6 Emission Reduction Partner: 2004 |

Austin Energy is an active participant in the Environmental Protection Agency's SF6 Emission Reduction Program. Sulfur Hexafluoride is primarily used in substation breakers; and, if released into the environment, acts as a powerful greenhouse gas. Each year, Austin Energy is recognized for meeting goals to reduce the amount of SF6 released into the atmosphere. |

The International Association of Business Communicators
honored our "Change A Light, Change the World"
marketing campaign that promotes the use of energy-efficient
compact fluorescent light bulbs. Earlier this year, this
campaign also won a Silver Spur Award from the Texas Public
Relations Association. The Silver Spur Award honors outstanding
professional achievement in developing and implementing
significant public relations programs. |

In 2006, Austin Energy Corporate Communications won two Best of Texas Silver Awards, the highest honor at the annual Texas Public Relations Association’s Silver Spur/Best of Texas competition. The customer newsletter, EnergyPlus, and a video about AE’s GreenChoice® program won in their respective categories. The GreenChoice video was a 30-second spot that ran during newscasts last year. EnergyPlus is an utility bill insert reaching more than 360,000 customers. The TPRA awards pit public and private companies and organizations in competition against each other. In 2005, the TPRA
recognized EnergyPlus,
and the Utility’s Annual
Report (pdf) with Awards of Merit in the Best of Texas
category. Our employee newsletter, PowerLine, has won
for four consecutive years— three times winning
the top prize. |

Education
| Mentor of the Year Award, 2005 |

Austin Energy received the Mentor Program of the Year
Award from Partners in Education. Employees throughout
AE mentor students at two Austin schools. Students mentored
through a special program sponsored by AE and Metz Elementary
have achieved significantly improved reading and math
scores over the course of the 3-year program. |

The Austin Independent School District honors Austin
Energy for making considerable contributions to education.
Austin Energy continues to support an employee mentoring
program with several area schools. Employees meet with students
over lunch and tutor them. Students have also been told
that they can approach an AE truck or employee any time
they are in need of help. |

Ms. Bobbie Shaw, Austin Energy's Customer Call Center
Supervisor, received a “Best of Austin” award
in the Customer Service category from The Austin Chronicle.
Shaw’s award was in the Critics category, for which
Chronicle staff and writers determined the winners.

Presented by the Southwest Electric Safety Exchange (SWESE), this award recognizes companies for working one or more years
without a lost time accident as a result of an electrical contact accident. SWESE is composed of 15 electric utilities from 7 states
across the southwest.
